While MonsonWeather is a free service, it isn't free to maintain. I keep ads off of the site, as they clog up usable space and greatly increase load times. By
clicking the "Donate" button at left, you can help MonsonWeather keep going! Donations can be made via Paypal using numerous methods. Whether you donate
$0.50 or $50, it is much appreciated. Consider just a few of the costs put into maintaining the site and the equipment involved.
My project of publishing Monson's current conditions and forecasts began in 2004, with the release of a free online website. By 2005, it was time for an upgrade,
and the site was transferred to a .com domain name. MonsonWeather.org came along after some site hosting issues, and I intend to keep this site for quite some time.
MonsonWeather is Monson's only online weather website providing live current conditions right here IN Monson. Our weather can differ greatly from Chicopee, the
National Weather Service (NWS) station at Westover that T.V. stations use on-air for their current temperature, etc. In addition I have a webcam showing current conditions
in Monson, along with radar focused on the Monson area that can zoom down to street-level.
MonsonWeather.org uses a Davis Vantage Pro (1) Weather Station, one of the most accurate home weather stations available. To upload this weather to the web, Virtual Weather Station software
is used. To upload the webcam image, I utilize ImageSalsa software, and for the time-lapse videos their MovieSalsa program is used.
In late July of 2008 I released the second version of the site, a complete redesign, and the current design of the page. The site is designed using
(X)HTML 1.0 and CSS 2. As such, I HIGHLY reccomend
anyone using Microsoft's Internet Explorer instead install and use the Mozilla Firefox Browser, as it handles the codes
used on this site in a MUCH more accurate and efficient manner. If you feel you must stay with Internet Explorer, please be sure you have updated to the latest version,
Internet Explorer (IE) 7. For those visiting MonsonWeather from a Mac, or those who
just like the browser, Safari is very compatible with the site as well. The site works best with screen resolutions of
1024x768 pixels or higher, and on high-speed cable or DSL internet connections.
I take great care in making sure the site is accurate and its coding is verified XHTML 1 and CSS 2.1, and as such each page is checked with the
W3C Validation Service. Click one of the two images above to check this out.
